What are the nine types of intelligence?

According to American psychologists Raymond Cattell and John Horn, there are two main types of psychology. These two types are fluid intelligence and crystallized intelligence. According to these two worlds, the general intelligence of anyone is the result of the integration of different skills and capabilities that interact with each other.
A decade after Cattell and Horne’s theory, American psychologist Howard Gardner proposed his multiple intelligences theory. And that was in 1983. Gardner explained that intelligence included more aspects than merely knowledge of languages or mathematics (the two things that Catal and Horn focused on in their theory). So what are the different types of intelligence, as Gardner explained?

1- Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

A person’s intelligence is often measured based on his logical abilities or his skills in solving mathematical issues. This is one of the most famous types of intelligence, but it is not the only one. Logical intelligence expresses a person’s inductive and deductive logic in addition to distinct calculation skills. The person who has this type of intelligence is just thinking and not doing anything. It has an unrivaled arrangement and sequence in thinking because it finds it easy to learn different patterns and determine the relationships between them. You have this type of intelligence if you are:

• Interact with different numbers and tasks that involve determining the amount of things, such as sports operations and algebra problems.
• You enjoy conducting experiments and investigations to prove a hypothesis you previously established.
• Enjoy logic or strategic planning games that are accurate and will raise your capabilities.
• Enjoy solving puzzles and pilgrims.

2- Linguistic Intelligence

Linguistic intelligence expresses a person’s ability to use words effectively. Some believe that if you master more than one language, you have noticeable linguistic intelligence. However, knowing several languages is not the only thing that makes you linguistically smart; you may only know one language but have exceptional abilities in using that language.In other words, linguistic intelligence expresses your ability to use words in a distinctive way that clarifies what you mean. You have linguistic intelligence if you are:

• The use of words improved in an effective way to achieve a goal, such as persuading a person or several people to do something or act in a certain way.
• You have a large vocabulary and know exactly when and how to use each of them.
• She reads a lot, and perhaps you like writing too.
• Enjoy games that use words, such as crosswords and others.
• Distinguish between different languages or dialects even if you do not master them.
• People who possess this type of intelligence often act as writers, novelists, poets, journalists, preachers, or speak in the field of stimulation. Most politicians are also known to have a high degree of linguistic intelligence.

3- Visual-Spatial Intelligence

Check it or not, there are people who have difficulty seeing the world and depicting its triple dimensions. And when we talk about the ability to think in a three-dimensional way, it includes:

1. Mental perception, or the person’s ability to draw in his imagination an image that represents the material world, This person can see in his mind that this thing is completely clear even if it is not in front of him, whether it is a memory from the past or a real experience with something.
2. Spatial logic is the ability to think about things in their three dimensions despite having limited information about them. This includes being able to sketch a clear general idea based on specific information.
   Image processing is the ability to see a specific image and imagine how it will be after processing or adjusting it.
3. Some have a problem with the perception of the final result of a specific image or plate if it is modified, while others can easily imagine the final form of it after the modification process.
4. Technical abilities are the ability to create artwork. Graphic design also falls under this category, as creativity and a wide imagination are important features of this type of intelligence.

You have this type of intelligence if you are:

• You have a great awareness of the environment around you.
• It has a good sense of direction.
• Enjoy the installation games or games that include maps and mazes.
• You love drawing and dealing with pictures and paintings.
• You have a habit of daydreaming and making up stories in your head.

People who enjoy this type of intelligence often work in the fields of art and drawing, as we find among them architects and designers. or areas related to dimensions and trends, such as two pilots and navigators.

4- Naturalist Intelligence

The ability to read and understand nature and all living organisms is one type of intelligence. If you have a strong awareness and feeling towards living organisms and even inanimate objects around you, you are naturally smart! Another feature that indicates that you have this type of intelligence:

• Your love for nature and enjoyment of spending time outside.
• The ability to communicate with various animals easily.
• Raising pets or planting plants.

People with this type of intelligence can work as plant scientists, farmers, agricultural experts, or work in gardens and forests.

5- Musical intelligence

Can you chant a specific melody? Can you distinguish between parts and details of a sound? If your answer is yes, then you have musical intelligence. which means that you are sensitive to tones and sounds. This type of intelligent person also has the following characteristics:

• The ability to distinguish and divide different sounds and manipulate intonation and pitch.
• Love of music and the ability to distinguish and be influenced by different pieces of music.
• Enjoy playing music or any kind of sound while doing different routines.
• Have a high sensitivity to sounds and the ability to hear subtle sounds that others may not notice.

As for the fields of work of such people, we find that most of them are musicians, singers, or sound engineers.

6- Existential intelligence

For some, this type of intelligence may seem very deep, but the ability to deal with existential issues is also a type of intelligence. This type is characterized by the ability to delve into very serious questions, mixed with high sensitivity and great passion to search for answers to these questions. You have this kind of intelligence if you:

• You are very curious to answer existential questions such as, “Why do we live?” Or why do we die? Or what will happen after death? …etc.
• Shows high sensitivity when it comes to human presence.

The jobs that are most suitable for these people are in psychology or theology, and motivational speakers have this kind of intelligence as well.

7- Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence

Have you ever heard of hand-eye coordination? People who have this consistency are known to be great athletes. Although it is rare to give the epithet “intelligent” to the mathematically superior, As for bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, it mainly expresses physical skills and the ability to use physical force to control various things around you. If you have this kind of intelligence, you:

• You have a great awareness of your body and your physical capabilities.
• You can communicate well using body language, and you have the ability to communicate your ideas to others using appropriate gestures.
• You do not face any problems with regard to physical contact with others, as you find yourself comfortable when you shake hands with others, for example, or communicate with them physically.
• You have a strong sense of timing, especially when it comes to physical activities and tasks.
• Improve the use of your hands and deal with different machines gracefully and elegantly.
• You love to make new things with your hands.

We usually find people with this type of intelligence working as athletes, dancers, acrobats, or actors on stage. Not only that, the artisans who excel at making delicate objects with high detail possess this kind of intelligence, but perhaps the best example of bodily-kinesthetic intelligence is found in the surgeons who master the use of their hands with such precision that their every movement, no matter how simple, determines the course of the patient’s life inside the operating room.

8- Interpersonal intelligence

Emotions are closely linked to intelligence, too, and there is even something known as emotional intelligence, or EQ. Personal or emotional intelligence refers to a person’s ability to sense other people’s feelings and read their motives. People with this type of intelligence are known to have high verbal and non-verbal communication skills. You possess this type of intelligence if you:

• You can discern differences between people and be able to find a specific person in a large crowd.
• She has a wide social circle that includes many friends and enjoys spending time with others.
• She has a high sensitivity to the moods and idiosyncrasies of others.
• You have the ability to look at a particular topic from different points of view instead of sticking to your own.

People with high emotional intelligence can pursue careers in teaching, social work, and politics. The actors also use their personal abilities to take on any character they want.

9- Intrapersonal intelligence

Self-awareness is a type of intelligence as well.If you understand yourself, know exactly what you are feeling and why, and know what you want, then you have a special inner intelligence. Some may confuse inner intelligence with narcissism because both focus a lot of attention on the same person, but what distinguishes an internally intelligent person from a narcissist is that the intelligent person enjoys great appreciation and respect for others, which means that he respects himself and respects others around him as well. You have this type of intelligence if you:

• A person is motivated from within, which means that they strive to always be at the forefront in the various situations that confront them.
• You are strong-willed and independent, so you have no problem learning anything on your own.
• You have enough awareness of your feelings, and you take actions and steps to get your life going without needing other people to tell you what to do.
• A shy and introverted person who prefers to spend their time alone to reflect and review their behavior.

People with this type of intelligence tend to work as spiritual leaders, psychologists, counselors, or even philosophers.
