The reasons for the attack on Mr. Strachialini remain unknown, but experts say the animal’s reaction may be the result of different scenarios.

Colombian actor Victor Mallarino said the shark “can feel that it is trapped, or perhaps flirting with a female while we are in its territory, or that we are trying to take her food, or that it is a female taking care of her cubs.” In a video posted on social media, the shark can feel trapped.

Mr. Malarino, known for his environmental activism and expertise, has accused the media of denigrating the animal and thus killing endangered species.

“If one day someone bites a dog, the solution is not to organize ourselves to go out and kill all the dogs we see,” Mallarino said. Sharks because of the ignorance of people.
