VSB produces energy in Sicily

The ground-mounted Ramacca project can produce 60MWp.

According to VSB Group, work on its first photovoltaic project on Sicily is almost ready to begin.

The Catania metropolitan area will host the construction of the ground-mounted photovoltaic plant, called Ramacca, which has an installed capacity of 60MWp.

The project will be developed on a 100-hectare site in Ramacca, a town southwest of Catania, over the next few months.

The planned commissioning year is 2025. When the photovoltaic park is finished, it will produce about 117,000MWh of electricity annually, which is roughly enough to power 40,000 typical multi-person households.

“The VSB Italy team currently has a total of 1.8GW of wind power and photovoltaic projects under development,” stated Giuseppe de Benedictis, managing director of VSB Italy. Ramacca is evidence of our proficiency in the development of large-scale photovoltaic projects.”

“Italy has set itself the target of connecting a good 50 gigawatts of PV capacity to the grid by 2030,” stated Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of VSB Group. We are happy to provide our expertise to support this. “Stable electricity prices for both citizens and businesses, as well as energy independence and security of supply, are key pillars for the whole of Europe – and the rapid expansion of renewable energy is making all this possible.”
