Vestas has announced a significant order for the second phase of DTEK’s Tyligulska wind energy project in Ukraine, totaling 384 MW. This order builds upon the previously secured 114 MW Tyligulska I order, which was successfully commissioned in spring 2023 [1].
Under this latest agreement, Vestas will supply 64 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines, overseeing their supply, delivery, and commissioning. The combined capacity of both phases of the Tyligulska project will reach 498 MW, establishing it as the largest wind energy project in Ukraine [2].
Leadership Statements
Henrik Andersen, Vestas’ President and CEO, expressed pride in expanding the partnership with DTEK, stating, “We are proud to expand our partnership with DTEK and to deliver our technology solutions to the Tyligulska project that will power Ukraine’s energy system.” He also acknowledged the vital support from Danish, Ukrainian, and EU authorities for this ambitious initiative aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy security [2].

DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko remarked on the significance of this agreement: “Today’s agreement is a big step towards a new energy future for Ukraine. From a system threatened daily by attacks, we are building a resilient and secure energy infrastructure that also helps Ukraine deliver on its climate commitments.” Timchenko highlighted DTEK’s commitment, stating that over €1 billion has already been invested in Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion [3].
Support and Timeline
The project is being realized with robust backing from authorities in Denmark, Ukraine, and the EU, along with a financial guarantee from EIFO, Denmark’s state-owned Export and Investment Fund. Turbine delivery is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2025, with commissioning expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026 [2].
