TotalEnergies and STMicroelectronics Forge 15-Year Renewable Energy Agreement in France

TotalEnergies has secured a pivotal 15-year physical power purchase agreement (PPA) to deliver 1.5 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable electricity to STMicroelectronics’ facilities in France. This long-term arrangement, effective from January 2025, will utilize energy produced by two new wind and solar farms with a combined capacity of 75 MW.

  • Renewable Energy Commitment: The electricity supplied will come with guarantees of origin, ensuring its renewable credentials.
  • Reliable Energy Supply: To manage the variability of renewable energy production, TotalEnergies will provide structuring services that convert intermittent energy into a stable green electricity supply.

Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President of Flexible Power and Integration at TotalEnergies, remarked on the significance of the agreement, stating, “We are delighted to sign this agreement with STMicroelectronics, which demonstrates our ability to provide long-term and innovative clean firm power solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.”

TotalEnergies has finalized a 15-year agreement to provide 1.5 TWh of renewable electricity to STMicroelectronics in France, advancing the semiconductor company’s sustainability initiatives.

Geoff West, Executive Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer at STMicroelectronics, emphasized the importance of this PPA in achieving the company’s sustainability targets, saying, “This first PPA in France marks yet another important step towards ST’s goal of becoming carbon neutral in its operations by 2027, including sourcing 100% renewable energy.”
