During an event in Nairobi, Kenya, company executives emphasized the importance of collaboration between industry and governments to promote the adoption of clean energy, particularly solar power.
Du Peng, CEO of Huawei Digital Power Eastern Africa, stated, “A green future for the continent is achievable if industry and governments work together.” He highlighted that the solar PV solutions being installed in homes, businesses, and factories are critical for lighting up Africa, enhancing grid stability, and promoting sustainability.
According to Du, deploying new solar technologies across African markets is essential for creating a resilient future amid climate challenges. Huawei’s 215-kilowatt-hour battery storage system stands out for its liquid- and air-cooling capabilities, optimizing energy efficiency and requiring minimal maintenance. Nick Lusson, senior director of Huawei Digital Power Eastern Africa, noted that this smart solar battery can be installed quickly and offers end-to-end safety guarantees. Additionally, it can charge electric vehicles, which is vital for achieving net-zero targets in Africa.
The FusionSolar smart PV solution is expected to significantly impact countries in the East African region by reducing power outages, lowering energy costs, and facilitating progress toward carbon neutrality. Lusson emphasized that these advancements will help meet the growing energy demands while promoting sustainable practices.
