Davos

How Davos charms you with its beauty

Davos is considered one of the most famous Swiss cities, not only because it is the seat of one of the most important global economic activities, the “World Economic Forum“, but also because it is a city that includes a large number of tourist activities and recreational activities for families and individuals.

We visited this city at the generous invitation of the Swiss Tourism Authority, and it was a wonderful tourist experience through which we had unique experiences and lived unforgettable moments..

Moment of arrival

The first moments of our arrival in Switzerland were like crossing over to another planet! I am not exaggerating if I say that everything is different there is better.. the air is purer than any air anywhere else, the nature is fresher and the harmony between the components of the place is more than wonderful indeed.

We arrived at Zurich airport and then headed to the train station to take a train to Davos. The first hour on the train was silent because everyone was impressed by the beauty of nature and the elegance of the place! All of our group had their eyes fixed on the windows, contemplating God’s marvelous landscape design.

We arrived in Davos, and the moment we got off the train to inhale our first gulp of the purest air was unforgettable. The air was loaded with a great deal of oxygen as if it was specially formulated for Switzerland. The weather in Davos was very cold because we encountered a wave of cold winds where the temperature reached 5 degrees Celsius, so we advise you, dear readers, not to forget to bring some winter clothes when you visit the Alps! But even if you forget (as happened to me personally), don’t worry Davos is a city where you can shop with ease. You can buy suitable clothes at any store in the central market and you can also buy clothes for the extreme cold from some specialty stores there.

Accommodation at Hard Rock Hotel Davos

Davos is a city with a global character, not only with the nature of the events and conferences it hosts but also with its international hotels and restaurants. You can notice this from the enthusiastic reception that workers in this sector make, whether in hotels or various restaurants, whether of a local or international character.

Our stay at the Hard Rock Hotel was special because of the hotel’s services and wonderful evening parties. The highlight of the hotel is the indoor sauna which is a great escape after a long cold day in the Alps!

We went early in the morning, accompanied by a guide, who told us about the history of the region, the nature of its people, their food, customs, and traditions.

We asked him why the mountain houses consisted of two layers, the lower stone and the upper wooden. He replied that the lower level contains the kitchen, and it must be built of bricks and mud to avoid fires.

We headed to a nearby valley and had the chance to meet a group of animals unique to Switzerland, such as squirrels.

I always look for new adventures and experiences when I travel, I think it’s the best way to make travel more exciting and exciting.

I searched for the best to try in Switzerland, and the result was to jump in the air! Yes, the most beautiful thing in Switzerland is its picturesque nature, and the best way to see this nature is to see it from the top.

Davos Forest

Not only did I see the wonderful forests and nature from above, but on the contrary, the views from the sky tempted me more to know what these wonderful forests hide.

The guide took us on a private tour of one of his favorite hikes. There we met the second group of friendly wild animals such as deer, horses, donkeys, and some foxes who just watched us from afar.

It is worth noting that Switzerland is very interested in wildlife, as there are strict laws to protect livestock.

A visit to the Schatzalp Resort

This resort was built as a sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers in the 1920s. Dr. Willem Jan Holsboer believed that the air in this area could help patients recover, and he also made sure to collect rare wild plants to extract medicines that help fight tuberculosis, and with time the place turned into a sanctuary A hotel that contains the most valuable and rare plants from around the world, so we advise you if you visit this place not to touch any existing plants, otherwise, you will hear the guards screaming!

Train tour

When you spend some time contemplating the beautiful nature, the silence in the place may only be broken by the sound of train whistles. Watching trains run through the mountains and wind around the hills is one of the hallmarks of the Swiss countryside.

Therefore, our guide friend was keen to take us on a tour of one of the trains, which is characterized by antique and antique character, so you will feel like you are on a journey in the sixties.

We strongly advise you to choose the train in your travels to have the opportunity to view a panoramic view of Swiss nature, especially since this train contains open-top cars.

Lunch by Lake Davos

No visit to Davos is complete without enjoying a walk around its charming lake, and it is best to choose a restaurant near the lake for lunch and drink.

All the restaurants of this city are aware of the privacy of their visitors from the whole world, as those in charge of restaurants are keen to guide their customers and inform them about the ingredients of food if they contain items they do not like, but we advise you to be sure to always ask.

We chose the Restaurant Alpenhof to sample a range of traditional Swiss cuisine.

Journey to the mountain

The train provides you with a panoramic view horizontally, but what about a panoramic view vertically? Yes, you can enjoy watching nature on your way to the mountainous heights by boarding the cable cars.

And if you are a fan of cycling, Davos is an ideal destination, as it hosts international competitions throughout the year, and there is no street of its streets for a tourist who rides a sports bike to go to the mountains, as most of its mountains are prepared and equipped with paths designated for cyclists.
