Danish renewable energy developer Eurowind Energy A/S has officially inaugurated the Teius Solar Park in Romania, boasting a capacity of 60.2 megawatts (MW). This project is part of a larger strategy to achieve a total installed renewable energy capacity of 124 MW in the country by the end of the year.
The Teius Solar Park represents a strategic investment of EUR 55 million (approximately USD 62.7 million). Notably, the project received EUR 15 million in non-reimbursable funding from Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), a program designed to boost green energy initiatives across the nation.
In addition to the solar park, Eurowind Energy is also developing a 116.96-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Teius site. This project requires an investment of about EUR 43 million, which includes EUR 7.6 million in non-reimbursable funding from the PNRR.
Romania’s Energy Minister, Sebastian Burduja, highlighted the country’s ambitious renewable energy goals, noting that over 600 MW of new capacity has already been completed through the PNRR. Authorities project that Romania will exceed 1,300 MW of total installed capacity financed by this program.
“Romania possesses all the resources required to become a regional leader in green energy,” Burduja stated. “We have over 10,000 MW in various stages of development within the photovoltaic and wind energy sectors, and we are European champions in attracting non-reimbursable funds for energy projects.”
The Teius Solar Park is Eurowind Energy’s fourth solar facility in Romania, following successful projects in Halchiu, Magurele, and Pufesti. The new solar park also features an internal 110/20kV, 80 MVA transformation station, enhancing its operational capabilities.

The development of solar parks like Teius is essential for Romania’s transition to renewable energy, as the country strives to meet EU climate targets and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. With significant government backing and a growing portfolio of renewable projects, Romania is positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector.
The inauguration of the Teius Solar Park marks a pivotal moment for both Eurowind Energy and Romania’s renewable energy landscape. As the country continues to invest in solar and battery storage technologies, the future looks bright for sustainable energy in the region. With ongoing projects and substantial financial support, Romania aims to transform its energy system and solidify its role as a key player in Europe’s green energy transition.
