CRH (NYSE: CRH), a leading provider of building materials solutions, has successfully developed a groundbreaking wind farm to supply renewable electricity to its Medgidia Cement Plant in Romania. This facility is the first of its kind in the country dedicated solely to powering a cement plant, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of its products while contributing to Romania’s clean energy transition.
By investing in clean energy, CRH aims to offer lower-carbon products and solutions for its customers. The company is increasing its reliance on renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, and generating electricity on-site. This initiative is a crucial step toward CRH’s ambitious target of reducing absolute carbon emissions by 30% by 2030.

The wind farm project commenced in August 2023 and is now fully operational. It consists of five turbines with a total installed capacity of approximately 30 MW, generating an estimated annual net production of 80 GWh. This initiative will contribute to reducing Romania’s national energy-related CO2 emissions by around 40,000 tons.
