Alcazar Energy Partners invests $500 million in a wind farm in Macedonia

Today, the largest wind farm project in North Macedonia with a 400 MW capacity was inaugurated by Alcazar Energy Partners, a prominent investor in renewable energy within growth markets.

A significant step toward the company’s objective of creating the biggest renewable energy platform in the Western Balkans is represented by this project.

This will be the largest investment in renewable infrastructure in the nation, exceeding $500 million. When fully operational, the project will rank among the largest wind farms in the Western Balkans and nearly five times increase North Macedonia’s installed wind capacity. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2026, with the financial close anticipated by Q4 2025.

Advancing the just transition

Situated 75 kilometers south of Skopje, the Shtip project is expected to significantly lower the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions and be a key component in the advancement of North Macedonia’s Just Transition Investment Platform, which was unveiled at COP28. Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough clean energy to power over 100,000 households annually while preventing the release of over 670,000 tons of CO2-eq annually. More than 630 construction jobs are also expected to be created.
