Support from BNP Paribas

In 2016, Alperia launched its first sustainable development plan and issued its first green bond through a private placement, made possible by the knowledge and dedication of BNL BNP Paribas. Alperia, which has committed to investing €1.7 billion in commercial and industrial activities supporting the energy transition by 2031, has made sustainable finance a key component of its growth strategy.

For this reason, the business required a financial partner with similar principles. The BNP Paribas Group was an obvious choice because of its leadership in sustainable finance and capacity to offer solutions related to ESG criteria.

Since its founding, BNL BNP Paribas has assisted Alperia in expanding by offering a global banking service both domestically and abroad. This has allowed Alperia to finance new hydroelectric plants, issue green bonds, supply and implement e-mobility solutions, and more.

The new Alperia biomass power plant in Merano, Italy, is used for district heating.

Alperia used the public Eurobond market in 2023 to finance or refinance its sustainable projects in accordance with the company’s energy transition strategy, with the assistance of BNL BNP Paribas. Strong investor demand resulted in an issue that was nearly twice oversubscribed. Furthermore, foreign investors demonstrated their interest by purchasing over 70% of the bonds that were placed. Alperia is able to enter new markets thanks to the success of its green bond offering.
