Trianel Unveils Largest Solar Park in Brandenburg

Municipal utility Trianel has just launched its biggest solar park yet, marking a significant step in renewable energy development. Located in Wiesenhagen, Brandenburg, just south of Berlin, this solar installation was built by the solar and storage company Greentech and boasts a peak capacity of 70.4 megawatts (MW).

This new solar park is impressive not just in size; it covers about 48 hectares along the Berlin-Halle railway line, making it a prominent feature in the landscape. The solar system connects to Trianel’s recently constructed 110 kV substation nearby, enhancing the region’s energy infrastructure.

Andreas Lemke, Trianel’s head of solar, emphasized the project’s significance: “This project is a milestone in our development activities because it is the largest contiguous solar park we have realized to date.” He highlighted the teamwork involved, noting, “This required precise planning and detailed coordination, which was only possible thanks to the great cooperation with Greentech.”

With this solar park, Trianel has now implemented ground-mounted solar plants with a total capacity exceeding 165 MW in Brandenburg. This expansion is expected to provide climate-friendly electricity to more than 51,000 households each year.

The growth of solar energy projects like this one reflects a broader trend in Germany, where the push for renewable energy sources has gained momentum. According to the German Solar Industry Association, solar energy accounted for about 10% of the country’s total electricity generation in 2022. This is a promising statistic that underscores the importance of investing in solar technology.

Trianel’s new solar park in Wiesenhagen is set to power over 51,000 homes with renewable energy.

The establishment of the Wiesenhagen solar park not only contributes to the local economy by creating jobs during construction but also supports environmental goals. By generating clean energy, it helps reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.

Experts agree that transitioning to renewable energy sources is crucial in the fight against global warming. A report by the International Energy Agency states that increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote a sustainable future.

The launch of Trianel’s largest solar park in Wiesenhagen is a landmark achievement in the region’s renewable energy landscape. As the demand for clean energy continues to rise, projects like this will play a vital role in ensuring a sustainable future for Germany and beyond. With ongoing investments in solar technology, the path towards a greener energy system looks promising.
