Ocean Winds, in partnership with Banque des Territoires, has successfully secured the 250MW Eoliennes Flottantes d’Occitanie floating offshore wind farm as part of France’s AO6 tender. The project, awarded by the Paris government, encompasses two development zones in the Gulf of Lion in the Mediterranean Sea, following a competitive bidding process.
Project Background
The partners have a history of collaboration in France, including the 30MW Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion, which is currently under construction, as well as the Îles d’Yeu et Noirmoutier and Dieppe Le Tréport fixed-bottom projects, each with a capacity of 500MW.
Craig Windram, CEO of Ocean Winds, stated, “We are proud to continue contributing to France’s energy transition through this new project, which underscores the French government’s confidence in Ocean Winds as a trusted leader in offshore wind energy. A key actor in the offshore wind sector in France, we bring unmatched expertise to this initiative.”
Commitment to Floating Wind Energy

Emmanuel Legrand, Director at Banque des Territoires, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “We are delighted to have been selected, along with our partner Ocean Winds, to build this first major floating wind project in the Mediterranean. The Banque des Territoires has been committed since the early pilot projects to supporting the leadership of the French industry in floating wind energy. This project reflects the ambition of the Caisse des Dépôts group to deploy €100 billion in service of ecological transformation.”
Conclusion
The Eoliennes Flottantes d’Occitanie project marks a significant step in advancing renewable energy solutions in France and demonstrates the growing potential of floating offshore wind technology in the Mediterranean region.
