Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has officially launched Voyager Renewables, a new platform company in Australia, through its Copenhagen Infrastructure V fund. This entity is dedicated to developing large-scale wind, solar, and battery storage solutions across the country.
Focus on Local Partnerships
CIP emphasizes that Voyager Renewables will focus on building and maintaining local partnerships that create value from the ground up. The company’s ambitious portfolio aims to deliver 6 GW of new renewable energy capacity across Australia over the next 10 years.
Key Projects in Development
Among the projects in the pipeline are several significant sites:
- Sunnyside: A proposed 450 MW wind farm located in New South Wales’ South-West Renewable Energy Zone.
- Energy Oasis: An onshore wind project exceeding 2 GW, featuring co-located solar and battery storage, planned for western New South Wales. This project will include high-voltage transmission to connect large-scale energy solutions to the grid, aiming to decarbonize energy-intensive industries by the mid-2030s.
- Western Tablelands: A 1 GW wind farm in Victoria’s south-west, which will also feature a co-located battery storage system.
Commitment to Sustainable Development

Jorn Hammer, CIP Australia partner and head, stated, “Voyager Renewables is part of CIP’s global strategy to invest in development platforms. As CIP’s onshore renewables company, Voyager Renewables will develop projects and build lasting partnerships with communities in Australia’s regions.”
Conclusion
With the establishment of Voyager Renewables, CIP aims to significantly contribute to Australia’s transition to renewable energy, fostering local partnerships and delivering substantial new capacity to meet the country’s growing energy needs.
