Portuguese maritime engineering company Etermar has officially launched Etermar Energia, a new branch dedicated to becoming a strategic partner in the development of offshore wind projects globally. This initiative reflects Etermar’s commitment to expanding its role in the renewable energy sector.
Key Features of Etermar Energia

- Expertise and Capacity: Etermar Energia boasts significant experience and production capacity in areas such as concrete, secondary steel, and sea fastening structures.
- Port Facilities: The company operates its own port facilities in Setúbal, Portugal, covering over 17 hectares (42 acres), with plans for expansion in 2026.
- Manufacturing and Export: Etermar has the capability to manufacture and export worldwide, supported by a fleet that includes 30 cranes, more than 30 operating vessels, and 37 support vessels.
Strategic Partnerships and Projects
- ONDEP Project: Etermar Energia is currently involved in ONDEP, a Horizon Europe-funded initiative aimed at testing and improving wave energy technology. The company will produce reinforced concrete floating foundations and steel structures for this project.
- Next Generation EU: Etermar will also manufacture reinforced concrete floaters as part of a project funded by Next Generation EU, coordinated by the Portuguese Alliance for Energy Transition.
- ECOncrete Partnership: The company collaborates with ECOncrete to promote marine biodiversity on submerged concrete structures.
Global Reach and Future Goals
Etermar Energia has established partnerships with over 20 developers across 13 different geographies and is actively seeking new collaborations and challenges worldwide.
